Dr Mandana Master, Adelaide obstetrician, gynaecologist and fertility specialist

Meet Dr Mandana Master B Pharm (Hons), MBBS (Flinders), FRANZCOG

Obstetrician, gynaecologist, and fertility specialist

I am a specialist obstetrician, gynaecologist, and fertility specialist practising at Adelaide Women’s Health and Embrace Fertility powered by Genea. I came to medicine through pharmacy, and that path has shaped the way I approach care with a genuine curiosity for how treatments work and a deep focus on the person receiving them.

My practice is built on a belief that Women’s health and fertility care should be compassionate, evidence-based, and continuous. I consider it a privilege to support individuals and couples through treatment, and I am proud to offer care that extends from fertility through to pregnancy and beyond.

Credentials and training

I began my career as a pharmacist before making the transition into medicine, completing a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Flinders University. Having completed all of my schooling and university education in Adelaide, I bring a deep familiarity with the local health system and community alongside a strong grounding in pharmacology and clinical science that I draw on in every practice.

I went on to complete specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). I have developed a particular interest in fertility, and I work with individuals and couples navigating a wide range of fertility challenges.

Alongside my private fertility and obstetric work at Embrace Fertility and Adelaide Women’s Health, I hold a public appointment at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, a role I value deeply as a commitment to accessible, high-quality care.

Approach to care

Fertility care is one of the most personal journeys a person can undertake. I believe it is a privilege to be part of that journey, and I bring that respect into every consultation.

What sets my practice apart is the continuity I can offer. I provide fertility care through Embrace Fertility and private gynaecology through Adelaide Women’s Health. This means that I am able to provide surgical procedures when indicated. That consistency matters, especially when navigating treatment that may have involved uncertainty, loss, or a long road to this point.

I take time in every consultation to genuinely listen, to explain clearly, and to develop a plan that reflects what matters most to the person in front of me. My background in pharmacy means I am particularly attentive to how medications interact, what the evidence really says, and how to make treatment as effective and manageable as possible.

I see patients for fertility consultations and treatment at Embrace Fertility powered by Genea, which is known for its exceptional laboratory standards, above-national-average success rates, and deep commitment to compassionate care.

For patients who conceive through treatment, I offer private obstetric care at Adelaide Women’s Health, providing the continuity and reassurance of having the same specialist throughout.

I also hold a public appointment at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for gynaecological and obstetric care.

Frequently Asked Questions

I will ask questions, listen carefully, and take the time to understand your history and what you are hoping for. By the end, you will have a clear sense of what I recommend, what your options are, and what the next steps look like. I want patients to leave feeling heard and informed, not overwhelmed.

It gives me a level of depth when it comes to understanding medications – how they work, how they interact, and how to tailor treatment to each individual. Fertility treatment often involves precise medication protocols, and I think my pharmacy training means I approach that side of care with particular attentiveness. It also reinforced something I believe deeply: that patients deserve clear, honest explanations of what they are taking and why.

The moments that stay with me are the ones where someone arrives feeling uncertain or discouraged, and leaves with a plan they feel confident in. Fertility care can involve a lot of waiting and uncertainty, and I find genuine meaning in helping people find clarity, whether that is a clear diagnosis, a treatment path they understand, or simply the reassurance that someone is paying close attention to their care.

With openness and without assumption. It is not uncommon for people to come to me having already been through treatment that did not result in a pregnancy, and that experience deserves to be acknowledged and properly reviewed. I take the time to go through previous results and records carefully, because sometimes there are things worth revisiting, and sometimes it is simply about finding the right next step with fresh eyes.

Fertility care is rarely a solo endeavour, and I really value the collaborative environment at Embrace Fertility. I work closely with our nursing, counselling, and laboratory teams to make sure each patient receives coordinated, consistent support throughout their treatment. Being powered by Genea also means my patients have access to world-class laboratory technology and the backing of one of Australia’s most experienced fertility networks.

Absolutely. Not everyone who comes to see me is already certain they need treatment. Some patients come for a preconception conversation, others have been trying for a while and want answers. I take an individualised approach, regardless of where someone is in their journey, and my first priority is always to understand the full picture before making any recommendations.
